Details

All members of the Competition Marching Band are expected to attend each scheduled rehearsal, throughout the Marching Band season. At these rehearsals, students review visual and musical fundamentals, and refine their competition marching show for performances at football games and off-campus competitions. Due to the nature of this team activity, 100% attendance is required by all members, barring extenuating circumstances.

Requirements and Policies

Marching band is a physical, outdoor activity. It is important for each member to take care of their health and wellbeing. The following policies are in place to ensure each member's safety, on and off the field.

  • Athletic clothes are required at each rehearsal

    • These include t-shirts, shorts/athletic pants, and athletic sneakers

    • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats are highly recommended

    • Students may not march if they are wearing the following items:

      • Jeans, boots, Crocs/sandals, jackets (except in cold/rainy weather)

  • A filled 1/2 gal water jug

    • Students are provided a 1/2 gal jug as part of their uniform. They may use this, or a larger jug. Small water bottles are not enough water for any rehearsal

    • The provided red jug is a required uniform item at all performance events

  • A charged cell phone, loaded with Ultimate Drill Book (UDB App Pro)

  • Marching show music and warm-ups

    • Students may reference pictures of their music on phones, if they prefer.

  • Instrument and necessary supplies (multiple reeds, valve oil, etc.)

Attendance Policy Reminder: if students miss any part of the rehearsal prior to a public performance, they may not be allowed to march in the following performance (exceptions are approved on a case-by-case basis).

This is to ensure every marcher's safety - it is not a punishment.
